The Buffalo Independent Secondary School Network (BISSNET)
is a consortium of 17 independent high schools in Erie and Niagara
Counties of Western New York, working together to facilitate
educational advancement, to provide access to technology and
to make a difference in the lives of our children.
Consortium
members are linked through state-of-the-art instructional technologies
enabling the sharing of information, resources and educational
programming. With seed money from the John R. Oishei Foundation,
BISSNET has installed local area networks in each school and
a wide area network connecting the schools to provide students
and faculty with high-speed Internet access.
The
consortium shares a virtual library enabling faculty and students
easy access to web resources including subscriptions to online
databases and periodicals. BISSNET member schools also share a subscription to Turnitin, a web-based anti-plagiarism software, as well as membership to the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE).
